SAVE THE DATE for NYC School of Data 2018 – Saturday, 3 March

New York City School of Data is a community conference showcasing NYC’s civic design, civic/government technology, and open data ecosystem. We seek to build a framework of relationships that can demystify data and technology, foster democracy, build cross-borough relationships, and mentor a new generation of civic leaders. For the weekend, we will celebrate two events; internationally, we will celebrate open data data; locally we will kick off the City’s open data week. Collectively, we will showcase our projects, discuss our problems, and outline ways to improve.

This year, we will host conversations around four key areas: digital literacy & privacy, smart & wise cities, effective & open government, and lastly, civic & government technology. As this is a community conference, we need your input and involvement.

Additionally, we’re thinking of expanding to two days, and dedicating one day to workshops. To inform this decision, we want your ideas.

Proposal Review Details:

Types proposals: 5 – 10 min lighting talks, 45 min panels or workshops, 90 min workshop.
Submission deadline: Submissions will be accepted on a rolling basis. Final submission deadline is Friday, January 19th.
Diversity: We cherish diversity of mind, body, and topic. We encourage sessions to dynamic, interactive, and include members and voices typically underrepresented within our communities. We want to minimize the four heads and moderator talking at the audience for too long type of deal.
