Slack, Hashtags, and live streaming

For the day, we’ll have a real-time “backchannel” via BetaNYC’s slack group. If you are not a member, you can request an invite via < http://slack.beta.nyc >. Once you have registered, you can log into slack at < https://betanyc.slack.com > and join the #nycsodata channel.

Our hashtag is #nycSoData and we will be tweeting from @nycSoData. Please tweet, retweet, follow, and hashtag away!

This weekend is a global celebration of #OpenData and #CivicTech. Check out #OpenDataDay and #CodeAcross for more information.

Thanks to the Internet Society of New York, we will live stream the main stage’s conversations and presentations.

Things you should bring

We’re going to have a full day of programing geared toward learning NYC’s open data and civic technology ecosystem. Please bring note taking devices. For example, Laptop AND charger, Phone or tablet AND charger, or Paper and pen.

Food

We hope to feed your mind and your belly! Our breakfast and lunch can accommodate vegans and vegetarians. If you have any other special needs, you might want to have a backup plan. We will have a refrigerator and a microwave for those who need them.

Parents who are bringing children

If you have registered your child, GREAT! Sitters Studio has a full fun day planned for your little ones! For the day, we are planning on supplying healthy snacks and juice. If your little one needs additional items, please bring it. If your little one has any special needs, please email  < schoolofdata+sitters@beta.nyc >.

Note – please feel free to bring a stroller. While we will have comfortable places for nap time, kids love sleeping in their strollers… and yes, we will have a stroller room.

If you have not registered your child, please email < schoolofdata+sitters@beta.nyc > ASAP. We might have room for 1 – 3 children 6 and older… We might. No promises.

Event Conduct Policy

BetaNYC welcomes all and runs its events as a safe space. We ask all speakers / presenters to take a few mins and read our Code of Conduct & Anti-harassment policy. In your sessions, we’re asking you to be mindful and help ensure we are as welcoming as possible.
