Call for Proposals for School of Data 2025!

BetaNYC is excited to announce that our next School of Data conference will take place on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at CUNY School of Law, and our call for proposals is now open.

Join us in shaping next year’s program! We’re looking for conference sessions that celebrate open data and NYC and cultivate NYC’s public interest technology community. We want to give you space to bring us together.

In particular, we seek interactive in-person sessions that:

  • foster civic dialogue, collaboration, and participation
  • provide community-building or networking opportunities
  • demystify civic technology and make open data accessible to new and old audiences
  • teach participants a skill or tool
  • present non-traditional tech perspectives
  • present a community call to action

Who should submit a proposal?

We are looking for event and session organizers who want to share their work, expertise, and enthusiasm for open data and NYC. Presenters should have expertise in their proposal topic and experience with presenting to a live audience. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate. It does not matter how you identify or how others perceive you. We welcome you!

Please submit early! Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis. BetaNYC will work with accepted organizers to fine-tune their session details and where it applies, connect you with others to augment them.

Every proposal must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • It relates to open data conceptually, if (where) NYC is used as a key case study/example
  • It relates to a dataset on NYC Open Data
  • It relates to publicly available data specifically about NYC
  • It relates to publicly available data about a broader area than NYC, if NYC is used as the main example

Please use these questions to develop your ideas and submit all final responses in the online application.

Interested in sponsoring the conference? We want to talk with you! Your support enables us to produce a low-cost, healthy, and inclusive event. To discuss opportunities to support, please contact us at schoolofdata@beta.nyc. We appreciate your consideration.
