BetaNYC is excited to announce that our next School of Data conference will take place on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at CUNY School of Law, and our call for proposals is now open.
Join us in building next year’s program! We’re looking for conference sessions that activate NYC’s public interest technology and open data community. For more inspiration, check out past NYC Open Data Week and School of Data event recordings.
In particular, we are interested in interactive sessions that:
- foster civic dialogue, collaboration, and participation
- provide community-building or networking opportunities
- demystify technology and make data accessible to new and old audiences
- teach participants a skill or tool
- showcase curriculum and share insights on how digital literacy is delivered
- present non-traditional tech perspectives
- present a community call to action
Who should submit a proposal?
Anyone who wants to share their work, expertise, and enthusiasm for the community, open data, and New York City. Presenters should have expertise in their proposal topic and experience with presenting to a live audience. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate. It does not matter how you identify or how others perceive you. We welcome you!
Please submit early! Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis. BetaNYC will work with accepted organizers to revise their session details.
Please submit your ideas early so we can discuss them with you. Our aim is to launch a version of the program in January 2026, with the full program launching in the middle of February.

Every proposal must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- It relates to a dataset on NYC Open Data
- It relates to publicly available data, specifically about NYC
- It relates to publicly available data about a broader area than NYC, if NYC is used as the main example
- It relates to open data conceptually and is something that might benefit NYC
Please use this PDF to develop your ideas and submit all final responses in the online application.
Interested in sponsoring the conference? We want to talk with you! Your support enables us to produce a low-cost, healthy, and inclusive event. To discuss opportunities to support, please contact us at schoolofdata@beta.nyc. We appreciate your consideration.

Anyone can submit a proposal for an event during NYC Open Data Week, a session at NYC School of Data, or an artwork as part of Data Through Design’s exhibition. Tell your friends and colleagues!
We can’t wait to launch next year’s program with you. If you have any questions, please contact us at schoolofdata@beta.nyc.
